In the News ... "Campus renovations underway at First Presbyterian Church"

MIDLAND, TEXAS - As First Presbyterian Church begins a major renovation project, the church body hopes to provide Midland with an open, welcoming campus that will serve as a common ground for its congregation and the larger community.

The “Common Ground” project began the demolition phase at the end of May. Major changes to the church will include the addition of an outdoor plaza, changes to the chapel and an open area that bridges the gap between the chapel and the sanctuary.

“(First Presbyterian Church) is a beautiful, yet somewhat imposing structure architecturally,” said Dan Hart, architect for the project. “One of the big things we wanted to accomplish with the renovation is to provide a comfortable entry point for people who are new to the church.”

Among the changes coming to the church’s campus, the one most central to First Presbyterian’s vision for the future is an area that will be called the commons ...
