• Responding to God’s call in good times and bad
The Outreach Foundation is not a traditional relief agency. One of our priorities is cultivating deep, long-term relationships all over the world. We work in partnership and when our partners are hurting, whether from an explosion or a pandemic or a war, we want to help. Help from us is usually swift and effective, thanks in large part to you, our faithful and generous donors.
But there is another reason we can be swift and effective in times of disaster and in our day-to-day operations, and that is our committed and passionate staff.
When the port in Beirut exploded, we were in direct contact with our partners in the region within hours. Our communications team had the Beirut Compassion Fund appeal up in 24 hours and our financial staff sent an initial wire of $20,000 within the next 24. This is just one example of what it means to work in partnership—not just with donors and not just with international partners but within our own organization.
After 24 years with The Outreach Foundation, I continue to be impressed by and proud of the way we, as a team, respond to God’s call in good times and bad. With grace and passion and firm commitment to transparency and honoring donor designations, we answer Jesus’s commandment to serve his people and spread his word.
Most of our time is focused on understanding what partners need and raising the funds that will enable them to meet those needs. But once a year through the Annual Appeal, we ask for funds to keep us, the staff of The Outreach Foundation, doing this work that we love. We love being able to send you a picture of a child in Haiti who is in school or of a church in Syria which is rebuilding a bombed-out sanctuary or of graduating evangelists in Mozambique who will have their first church and a skill that will feed their family. We love the fact that you know that the funds you send to us will be used as you have designated. We love being in partnership—with you, the child, the church, and the evangelists.
Thank you for allowing us to do what we love by supporting our Annual Appeal.
Linda Patrick
Chief Financial Officer

From ServLife International ... "Pandemic Relief Update and Upcoming Opportunities"
ServLife International is a movement defined by values of God’s kingdom, not programs built around human efforts and activities. The reign and rule of God should be made apparent to every person on the planet, despite their religion, race or socioeconomic status. We believe that issues of justice are inseparable from the good news that Jesus Christ came to proclaim. ServLife exists to take the gospel of Christ and the hope of a better, more just, world to the lives of people we touch. This happens through individual contributions of time, creativity, resources and dreams.
Pandemic Relief Update and Upcoming Opportunities
PANDEMIC RELIEF
This week we conducted our second round of economic relief, providing packets of rice, lentils, salt, sugar, and cooking oil for families in need. If you haven't seen the highlight video yet, check it out here. As Director Bekharaj shares, "because of this relief we have a good opportunity to reach out to people and to share the love of God."
BANQUET RESCHEDULED
Due to continued health concerns over COVID-19, our previously rescheduled Global Community Banquet has been postponed to April 24, 2021. Fortunately, Todd Henry remains our keynote speaker, and we hope Nepal Director Udaya will also be able to visit and share at this special event.
If you live near Indianapolis, please mark your calendar for our April 24 banquet and RSVP here.
WE'RE HIRING
ServLife is growing and we are looking for a 10-20 hours/week detail-oriented, task-driven administrative assistant. This position will handle processing checks, sponsorship and donor activity, and general office tasks.
Full description and apply here.
* Because of the job requirements, we are looking for candidates that can work on site in the Indianapolis office.
Peace!

From @Presbyterian Mission Agency ... Give 8/28"
Presbyterian Mission Agency is the ministry and mission agency of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Founded as the Western Foreign Missionary Society by the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America in 1837, it continues to uphold, support, and raise awareness of mission efforts across the country, and around the world.
• Part of the Presbyterian Week of Action
On August 28, 2020, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) will be joining #Give828, a national day of giving focused specifically on supporting Black benefiting organizations. #Give828 isn’t like other fundraising campaigns. This day takes place during Black Philanthropy Month and commemorates multiple important historical landmarks in Black American’s march toward freedom.
Your Gifts to #Give828 will go to support leadership development for leaders of color by funding the Katie Geneva Cannon Scholarship and the Conference for Seminarians of Color. Donating to the campaign is one of the action steps you can take as a part of the Presbyterian Week of Action August 24 -30.
Did you know that on August 28, 1955: 14-year-old Emmett Till was brutally murdered by three white men, and that became a "flashpoint in the civil rights movement?" On August 28, 1963 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his iconic "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington, D.C. and on that same date in 2005 Hurricane Katrina made landfall in Louisiana. The storm, which devastated New Orleans, inordinately impacted many of the city’s black residents. And, on August 28, 2008 then-Senator Barack Obama accepted the Democratic nomination for president, becoming the first Black man to ever win the nomination and bid for the presidency.
#Give828 2020 comes at a critical time. The disproportionate deaths in Black communities from COVID-19 and the recent killings of unarmed Black people that have sparked waves of protests illustrate the critical need for resources in Black communities.
Matthew 25:31–46 calls followers of Jesus to actively engage in the world so that faith comes alive and people of faith can wake up to new possibilities. It calls the PC(USA) to act boldly and compassionately to serve people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned or poor. The three focus areas of the resulting Matthew 25 Invitation are building congregational vitality, dismantling structural racism and eradicating systemic poverty.
Show your support by donating to these important ministries, and be a part of #Give828.
