OVERFLOWING WITH THANKS

2 Corinthians 9:12
2021 marks the fifth year that Marion Medical Mission has created a devotional book to share with all those who are involved with MMM’s well installation season – and as with each of MMM’s projects, it has grown to be bigger and better each year!
The original intent in 2017 was to provide a set of devotions specific to Marion Medical Mission – so that U.S. volunteers in Africa could be sharing devotional materials with their family and friends at home, as well as with their Field Officers in Africa, often in the truck as they drove to the first well of the day.
And then, beginning in 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic prevented U.S. volunteers from traveling to Africa, we lengthened the devotional book by two weeks to cover the entire well season – September 1 through October 31 – as a daily reminder of the dedicated work of each and every member of the African staff.
Each of the devotions in this book is a heartfelt testament to the power of God at work through MMM. And each author has had a meaningful, even life-altering, connection to the mission of providing clean water that is clearly evident in their words. Thanks to all who have shared their experiences with us! And a particular thanks to the MMM staff in Africa who took the time to write a devotion in the midst of their own critical work with the villagers in preparing the wells -- you are our brothers and sisters, and we will think of you every day as we read these devotions.
My last trip to Africa was in 2018, yet some of my memories are still so vivid, and coordinating this devotional book reawakens those memories. These devotions enable us to engage in a shared daily moment of prayer with people across the world.

Prayer: Gracious God, we thank you for the contributions of each person involved in MMM’s mission, today and every day. Be with the Field Officers, installation supervisors, well builders, and villagers as they experience the tangible sign of Christ’s love through the water that flows from new wells. Amen.
