VIRTUAL MidWinters 2021
Of course we are disappointed that we won't be able to gather in person for our annual lecture series and reunion! But in the spirit of finding new ways of staying connected in these weird times, we are finalizing plans for a fantastic online MidWinters and Alumni Reunion, January 25-27, 2021. We have an incredible line-up of speakers this year, and we are busy creating meaningful opportunities for you to engage your heart and mind by connecting with your Austin Seminary community.

New book benefits seminary program

Austin Seminary Trustee Emeritus Max Sherman has published a memoir, designating that any proceeds will benefit the sacred music program at the Seminary.

Available on Amazon.com, Releasing the Butterfly: A Love Affair in Four Acts chronicles his marriage to Gene Alice who has lived with Alzheimer's for the past decade.

Sherman established The Gene Alice Sherman Chair in Sacred Music in 2014 to honor his wife and to celebrate her lifelong involvement with church music.

Doing Justice: Racism
Education Beyond the Walls is offering a new five-week e-course for individuals and groups, Doing Justice: Racism. Consider using this course with your Sunday school, church fellowship group, high school youth group, or any other group that wants to engage anti-racism work in a Christian context.

You will need five or more people to join a group; the per person cost decreases as you add more participants. If you would like EBW to provide your group with a facilitator, we can do that for an additional fee. You can purchase the e-course at any time.

  Group of 5: $150
  Group of 10: $250
  Group of 15: $300
If you are an individual seeking to join a group, we have one starting on January 21.

Contact EBW to purchase this course for your group ...

We invite you to enjoy these video resources
Lessons and Carols, presented by the Austin Seminary Choir and others under the leadership of Professor Eric Wall. This year it is a seven-part and seven-day service – one lesson and one carol released daily, with accompanying liturgy, texts, and music.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, our faculty have received questions from ministerial leaders about how to approach communion while maintaining social distance. Setting the Table in the Age of Covid contains content from Professors Jennifer Lord and Cynthia Rigby about communion during Covid times.
