ODESSA, TEXAS - For Vanjie Buford, giving back to the community has always been important to her.

Even as a child, Buford said she would give back to her community in some way, adding she still donates to St. Jude’s Children Hospital when she can. By giving back to the community, Buford said people can become better citizens while at the same time, make a positive change in someone’s life.

As the program director for Camp Fire West Texas, Buford said their annual summer camp volunteers to deliver meals one a week for Meals On Wheels. This year, the group of children in the older age group — between the ages of 10 and 12 years old — have been accompanying their counselors on Thursdays to deliver meals.

Since the camp has been active with Meals on Wheels, Buford said the younger children watch as the older groups get ready to go on the routes, and get excited about the opportunity to go out on their own routes someday ...

From "I Am Second" ... Victoria Childress

Growing up in a broken home without the love that most people take for granted, Victoria Childress embraced her emotional pain by adding physical pain. Cutting words on her arms in the dark proved a temporary crutch that was leading her down the dangerous path towards suicide. “With seemingly nothing to live for, why live at all?”

The wise counsel of a physician started the healing process for Victoria, eventually leading to true discovery about the reason for living, and the joy and happiness that results. Her story testifies that when someone reaches out with the question, “God, if you are real, can you help me,” He will show up! ...

Teichert Family Update ... Growing Up in Africa!

The family of Karl and Jenny Teichert are serving the Lord as missionaries with OC Africa, in South Africa. They moved to Johannesburg in November, 1997 with their four children; Ann, Scott, Stephen and John. Karl serves as the Southern Africa Director of the Southern Africa Regional Team. Their vision is to see a healthy, Bible-based church established in every unreached village and community in South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia and beyond. Their strategy is to partner with key African church leaders to research, train, and mobilize the body of Christ to complete the Great Commission. They are striving to equip local leaders in Southern Africa to reach their nations for Christ and send missionaries into other countries as well.

Growing Up in Africa!

Dear Family and Friends,

Our OC Africa – Southern Africa team has taken two big steps in our growth as a ministry. The first step is the addition of five new South African board members. We are praising the Lord for the commitment of these godly men and women to assist our ministry team toward greater fruitfulness impact into the future. We are looking forward to how these diverse leaders will bring their wisdom, gifting, and experience to help our team better develop and mobilize Southern African workers into Africa and the world. Visit www.ocafrica.net for more information about our team.

Please pray for God’s wisdom as this new board better understands our ministry vision and helps develop new strategies to train, send, and sustain laborers in God’s harvest.

The second significant step for our OC Africa team was the invitation to become the fourteenth mobilization center of the OC Global Alliance (OCGA). Our board chairperson, Cliff Marshal, and Karl were honored to receive this official acceptance at the OCGA meetings on May 20, 2019, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

The OCGA is a voluntary association of mobilization centers with the purpose of sharing resources and experience to fulfill our common vision, mission, values, and strategy. Each mobilization center functions independently but is bound together with a commitment to partner with one another. Mutual trust, common vision, values, collaboration, and fundamental belief that the Holy Spirit can help multi-national teams work better together is what has made the OGGA successful. See www.onechallenge.org/2014/03/15/what_is_the_global_alliance for more information.

We are praising the Lord for this new season of growth for our OC Africa team! Thank you for walking with us over the years in this journey of faith in the Lord’s service.

For God's glory,

Karl and Jenny

OC Africa is an interdenominational ministry committed to developing, equipping, and mobilizing church leaders to multiply healthy, Bible-based churches in every community in Southern Africa and the world. OC is a faith-based mission who depends on the Lord to provide committed, financial supporters and partners. The contributions from these individuals help generate ministry opportunities around the world, impact missionaries and their global work, and provide a means for the International Mobilization Center to function. ABILENE, TEXAS - In Nigerian culture, the first-born son traditionally is named for the father.

But not always.

Albert Ezeanya Jr. was the second-born son. His father had told God that if he had a son, he wanted him to be a priest. Logically, the first son would have been named Albert Jr. and would have been steered toward the priesthood. But that didn’t happen.

“I think he knew,” Albert Ezeanya Jr. said of his father.

At 10, Albert Jr. also knew. At that tender age, he felt moved by the Holy Spirit to enter the priesthood. Raised Catholic in Uturu, Nigeria, Ezeanya heard a priest deliver a homily about preaching the word of God to people who have never heard it.

“I said, ‘I want to be like him,’” Ezeanya recalled.

After several moves in Nigeria and again in the United States, Ezeanya has landed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abilene ...
