MIDLAND, TEXAS - In the past five years, volunteers and churches in West Texas have donated approximately 22,878 shoe boxes during the annual Operation Christmas Child campaign and this year, officials said they are hoping to do more by opening additional collection sites in the area.

OCC, a national campaign and a part of Samaritan's Purse ministry, takes donated items such as school supplies, clothing, toys and personal hygiene items and packages them up in shoe boxes to be dispersed to children all over the world.

Midland Bible Church, 2800 N. "A" St., will serve as a relay center for those wanting to drop off shoe boxes during the national collection drive week from Nov. 14-21.
