Invitation to Prayer from Faces of Children ... Tomorrow

Faces of Children is an ecumenical prayer ministry under the auspices of First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Their mission is to initiate ministries of prayer for children in churches, communities, and neighborhoods. In doing so, they seek to provide an opportunity for people of God to join together, learn about children and their needs throughout the world, and celebrate Christ's love (especially as it relates to children).

If you're in Midland this week, we'll be meeting at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, for prayer. We meet in the prayer closet at First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Please join us in lifting up the needs of vulnerable children in our community and around the world!

Dear Intercessors:

This week I was personally challenged by an appeal Dave Eubank sent out exploring the difference between justice and revenge and how that applies to ISIS widows and orphans from other countries. I wanted to encourage you to read the same letter and join me in praying for justice.

"Love is the difference between revenge and justice. A nation that does not act in love will be more and more like the enemy it faces and will not find justice."

Having just celebrated Mother's Day, I was also struck by Free Burma Rangers' essay on motherhood in conflict zones. "The narrative of war is told from a predominantly male perspective, yet modern war is indiscriminate and comprehensive in its destructiveness and destroys those least prepared for it. If cultures and societies are to recover we must also study "where the community has improvised and survived and shown resilience and amazing acts of courage just to keep life going" - that is, the side of war led by women." Through sharing the stories of three mothers, they offer a "glimpse into the countless untold cases of women showing resilience and courage to keep life going in the most arduous of circumstances."

There are many prayer needs around the world, but I thought this week we could focus on our partners at Free Burma Rangers and use their thoughts on gratitude for mothers in conflict zones and the need for justice for ISIS orphans and widows (even those foreign nationals who voluntarily joined ISIS) to guide us in our prayers.
