In the News ... "Churches step up fitness game"

MIDLAND, TEXAS -
Maybe it's the potlucks or the long hours of sitting in pews: recent studies show that young adults who frequently attend religious activities have a higher probability than their peers of becoming obese later in life. Young adults attending at least one religious function per week were 50 percent more likely to be obese by middle age than other participants in a 2011 Northwestern University Medicine study, which tracked more than 2,400 normal weight men and women between the ages of 20 to 32 for 18 years.
