ODESSA, TEXAS - Seeing his mother making communion bread for Episcopal churches in Fort Worth was the main determinant in Father David Mossbarger’s decision at age 12 to become a priest.
“We played outside while our little bitty congregation, St. Elizabeth’s, made the bread to raise money,” said Mossbarger, rector of St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church at 4141 Tanglewood Lane.
“They dried it with a waffle iron and broke it into pieces. That part of the life of the church, even something as natural as bread turned into wafers, was a way to remember Christ” ...
