Teichert Prayer Letter for June

The family of Karl and Jenny Teichert are serving the Lord as missionaries with OC Africa, in South Africa. They moved to Johannesburg in November, 1997 with their four children; Ann, Scott, Stephen and John. Karl serves as the Southern Africa Director of the Southern Africa Regional Team. Their vision is to see a healthy, Bible-based church established in every unreached village and community in South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia and beyond. Their strategy is to partner with key African church leaders to research, train, and mobilize the body of Christ to complete the Great Commission. They are striving to equip local leaders in Southern Africa to reach their nations for Christ and send missionaries into other countries as well.

June 2015 ... Pray for our OC resident team in Zimbabwe

Dear family and friends,

For over 20 years our team has been partnering with godly leaders in Zimbabwe to grow healthy churches to disciple that nation. This has been done with reasonable effectiveness from South Africa. In July 2014, we sent one of our team families, the Gerharts, from Johannesburg to launch our first OC Zimbabwe resident team in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. With their ongoing presence in the country, the Gerharts hope to build a team that will have greater impact in the country.

Zimbabwe has suffered terribly over the past 20 years. Its economy is now in ruins, with one of the lowest GDPs in the world and approximately 95 percent unemployment. In the midst of difficult challenges, many Christi ans have exercised huge faith and people are hungry for God.

Although the political climate is precarious and life for all who live there is challenging, they sense that the nation is poised to see God break through in all sectors of society. OC Zimbabwe’s vision is to develop godly Christi an leaders for the holistic transformation of Zimbabwe into a discipled nation.

Sarah Gerhart was born in Zimbabwe, but the country has changed radically since that ti me. She has been on a difficult journey coming to terms with its current reality. However, she now has peace and is ready for the challenge. Jay Gerhart has felt as if all his life has been preparing him for ministry in Zimbabwe. He is excited to be living there and for the opportunities to disciple and impact the lives of both pastors and educators in the country. They have three sons. Samuel is in grade 10 at a Christi an school in Bulawayo and enjoys music, drama, and making friends. Thomas is currently working in Cape Town and Graham is studying at the University of Cape Town. Here are some prayer needs for the Gerhart family:

That key Christi ans would grasp the impact of Jay’s teaching on “Biblical Worldview and Discipling Nations” and apply it to impact their lives and ministry.
To see a deeply religious spirit in the church replaced with a Kingdom focus through experiencing God’s great personal love.
For permanent housing to be confirmed.
For strong friendships and support team.

Thanks you for your fervent prayers for the Gerharts as well as our family! We are sincerely grateful to serve the Lord together in his kingdom here in Southern Africa.

For His glory,

Karl and Jenny
