From @FWMission ...Friday Story: "Stuck in the Rain"

Founded in 2001, Free Wheelchair Mission is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to providing wheelchairs for the impoverished disabled in developing nations. Headquartered in Irvine, California, FWM works around the world in partnership with a vast network of humanitarian, faith-based and government organizations, sending wheelchairs to hundreds of thousands of disabled people, providing not only the gift of mobility, but of dignity, independence, and hope.

Friday Story: "Stuck in the Rain"

As I write this, we are just a few thousand units shy of distributing our one-millionth wheelchair. One million… The thought of this leaves me awed and humbled.

It’s not a sense of achievement that moves me, however. It’s the thought that every one of the million represents an individual whose life has been touched and transformed, thanks to the collaboration, support, and prayers of our partners worldwide.

In a dusty Rwandan village, a 70-year-old man named Barigereka was making a modest living as a farmer when an accident cost him the ability to walk. He began to crawl to move about, but the muscles in his legs atrophied over time ...
