Invitation to Prayer ... Wednesday
Hi Friends,
If you're in town and free, please join us to pray together on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., in the gym conference room at First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas.
Please note the new time. We are trying this for one semester so that we have less time conflict with the new women's Bible study that is starting on Wednesdays at 11:30.
Also, Faces of Children is now on Facebook! I invite you to like our page so that you can see regular stories, prayer needs, and updates from partner ministries.
All the best,
Carrie
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Psalm 46:1-7
Dear Intercessors,
I trust that your heart and prayers, like mine, are with the people in Houston and along the gulf today. For those of us in Texas, this feels particularly close to home as so many of our personal friends and family are caught in the deluge. With so many details still murky and unfolding, I don't feel like I have any news to share that you don't already know. But I did find these pictures, and they felt like a good way to start praying for the children and their families impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
Please pray for the children caught in the Hurricane ...
... for the children whose houses have been destroyed by flooding or wind or tornadoes. May they feel safe and secure wherever they are now.
... for the children who have made scary water evacuations. May they be able to process these events in a way that leads to healing and wholeness.
... for the children whose schools have been closed, and which may need to remain closed for weeks and months to come. May they not fall too far behind and may their time be filled with engaging and meaningful activities.
... for the children who have spent nights on rooftops, waiting to be rescued, or sleeping in shelters or strangers' homes. May they be able to rest and know the peace that comes from God.
And as we pray for children in Texas, let's continue to remember all the children around the world caught in the midst of natural disasters. For so many children in other countries, the recovery process is even more arduous than that faced by families in Texas.
Praying with you,
Carrie
