ABILENE, TEXAS - Kirk Cameron, star of the '80s sitcom “Growing Pains,” will be the speaker for an Oct. 15 dinner benefiting Christian Homes & Family Services, a local foster care and adoption ministry.

Cameron has been a part of the national landscape since starring as "Mike Seaver" in the ABC hit sitcom. The role turned him into a cultural icon in the '80s, with his mullet hairstyle, cool sunglasses, and wisecracking comebacks.

Since then, he's appeared in numerous television and movie productions, including the "Left Behind" series, "Monumental" and "Fireproof," the marriage-centered film that became the No. 1 grossing inspirational movie of 2008.

The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Abilene Convention Center, 1100 N. Sixth St. For ticket and table sponsorship information, go to christianhomes.com.
