Church still going strong after 125 years

MIDLAND, TEXAS - The oldest church in Midland recently marked its 125th anniversary. Serving cake to parishioners in the parlor and incorporating a brief history lesson into Sunday worship services, the clergy, staff and congregation of First United Methodist Church celebrated their August 23 anniversary one day early.
"I feel honored and rewarded to be pastor to a church with such a rich heritage that is still strong in the community," said the Rev. Dr. Tim Walker, senior pastor.
