SAN ANGELO, TEXAS - Eight days is a short moment in time in the Eternal City.
Nevertheless, Bishop Michael Pfeifer of the Diocese of San Angelo, along with 24 other Catholic Church officials, will travel to Rome for an eight-day visit “ad limina” with Pope Benedict XVI.
“Periodically, the Pope calls bishops to meet with him. ‘Ad limina’ means ‘to the threshold,’ ” Pfeifer said, suggesting being brought “to the threshold” of the apostles St. Peter and St. Paul. “(The Pope) wants us to go because he wants to be in union with us."
