MIDLAND, TEXAS - While the price of oil may be casting a shadow of uncertainty on the coming months, Midland’s Breaking Bread Soup Kitchen is proving the community still remains just as dedicated to looking after its own.
Armed with a $100,000 matching grant from the Permian Basin Area Foundation and two years to raise their half of the money, the nonprofit’s staff set out to begin their fundraising campaign on New Year’s Day. After less than two weeks, Executive Director Trisha Weatherford said the soup kitchen already had amassed more than $60,000 in donations.
