Invitation to Prayer: TOMORROW

Faces of Children is an ecumenical prayer ministry under the auspices of First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Our mission is to initiate ministries of prayer for children in churches, communities, and neighborhoods. In doing so, we seek to provide an opportunity for people of God to join together, learn about children and their needs throughout the world, and celebrate Christ's love (especially as it relates to children).

Love Is Stronger than Death

Very truly, I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come under judgment, but has passed from death to life. John 5:24

“Let us claim the truth that we are loved and open our hearts to receive God’s overflowing love poured out for us. And living fully each day let us share that love in all our wonderful and difficult relationships, responsibilities, and passages.

The seeds of loss and death are at work in us, but love is stronger than loss and death. Your death and mine is our final passage, our exodus to the full realization of our identity as God’s beloved children and to full communion with the God of love. Jesus walked the path ahead of us and invites us to choose the same path during our lifetime. He calls to us, ‘Follow me.’ He assures us. ‘Do not be afraid.’ This is our faith.

Jesus, when we reflect on our death, may we do so in hope and without fear, keeping before us the image of the Good Shepherd.”

A message from Chris Laufer, Coordinator, Faces of Children

Greetings, Faces of Children Prayer Partner,

Thank you for your prayers for our son and his wife! Little Caley Jude Laufer was born on Friday, January 9 in Brisbane, QLD, Australia. She is healthy and adorable, but I’m a very biased Nonnie. Courtney’s doctor and midwife told them this was one of the smoothest deliveries they’d had in a long time, so thanks be to God! Again, thank you for praying for these very special people in our lives.

The Midland Faces of Children prayer group will meet on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in the Family Life Center conference room at First Presbyterian Church-Midland, Afterwards, we'll share lunch ($5) and fellowship.

I hope you are able to join us as we pray for the children of our local and global communities.

Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer for the littlest citizens of God’s Kingdom! If you have prayer concerns or celebrations about children, those who care for them, those who have authority over them, or those who harm them (the really hard prayers to say sometimes), please send them to me at at claufer@facesofchildren.net, or give me a call.

Grace and peace,

Chris
