ODESSA, TEXAS - Going against the grain has always been the Rev. Jimmy Braswell’s hallmark, and the cheerful St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church pastor expects to continue down his long road of telling the truth regardless of the responses he gets.

The 59-year-old native Odessan was a math and science whiz at Permian High School but had felt a calling to the ministry since junior high and followed it despite what he says was a relative lack of aptitude.

“It’s been hard all along,” Braswell said. “I had average grades at seminary. But I felt like people needed to hear the truth ..."
