Teichert Family Update ... No Place Left!

The family of Karl and Jenny Teichert are serving the Lord as missionaries with OC Africa, in South Africa. They moved to Johannesburg in November, 1997 with their four children; Ann, Scott, Stephen and John. Karl serves as the Southern Africa Director of the Southern Africa Regional Team. Their vision is to see a healthy, Bible-based church established in every unreached village and community in South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia and beyond. Their strategy is to partner with key African church leaders to research, train, and mobilize the body of Christ to complete the Great Commission. They are striving to equip local leaders in Southern Africa to reach their nations for Christ and send missionaries into other countries as well.

No Place Left!

This was the theme of the 2017 Movement for African National Initiatives (MANI) Southern Africa Consultation from August 21-24 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The theme was taken from Romans 15:23 by the Apostle Paul’s admittance of no place left for him to work in the region. This aligns with the MANI vision that the whole Church will take the whole gospel to the whole world. Over 200 different churches, organizations, and networks represented from over 20 countries participated in this strategic event. This unique consultation was a joint effort of the MANI Southern Africa, Islands, and Portuguese regions and the World Evangelism Network of South Africa (WENSA). OC Africa volunteered to serve as the host organization. Ria, our office administrator, handled the entire registration process with excellence. Several members of our OC Africa -Southern Africa and Africa Area teams also attended.

The participants interacted in five tracks. Mission experts facilitated practical experiences and lessons learned in their respective fields. The topics of the tracks were:

The Biblical identity of the church and its role in the world
   Discipleship – disciples making disciples
Generational engagement – children and youth
   The world at your doorstep
The unengaged unreached people of Africa and beyond

Karl was given the opportunity to co-facilitate the Discipleship track along with another church leader from Cape Town. Each participant in the track agreed to:

   Find someone to disciple them
Make at least one disciple in the next 12 months
Equip and empower their disciple to disciple another
   Disciple others in community

The delegates from each country met together on the last day to discuss the implications and establish specific short-term goals and action plans.

Please pray with us for the following:

Greater unity and collaboration by national church and organizational leaders
Commitment by each leader to implement their goals and action plans
Wisdom, resources and effective followup by the MANI regional team

Thank you for your faithful partnership to multiply disciple-making churches across Southern Africa.

For His glory,

Karl and Jenny
