Invitation to Prayer from Faces of Children ... Wednesday

Faces of Children is an ecumenical prayer ministry under the auspices of First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Their mission is to initiate ministries of prayer for children in churches, communities, and neighborhoods. In doing so, they seek to provide an opportunity for people of God to join together, learn about children and their needs throughout the world, and celebrate Christ's love (especially as it relates to children).

Invitation to Prayer ... Wednesday

Hi Friends,

If you're in town and free, please join us to pray together on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., in the gym conference room at First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas.

Please note the new time. We are trying this for one semester so that we have less time conflict with the new women's Bible study that is starting on Wednesdays at 11:30.

Also, Faces of Children is now on Facebook! I invite you to like our page so that you can see regular stories, prayer needs, and updates from partner ministries.

All the best,

Carrie

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
Psalm 119:105

Dear Intercessors,

Always remember to never forget: He is good. He is good. He is good.

This week, we see His goodness in a landmark court ruling by India's top court criminalizing intercourse with minors even when it's disguised as marriage. Experts expect, with proper enforcement, this could cut down on rampant child trafficking and sexual abuse.

But even in the light of this victory, there are still 20,000 girls married-off each day around the world, amounting to 7.5 million girls every year in countries where the practice is illegal. And in India, child brides are sold to men from Gulf state nations working in India, remaining "married" only as long as the men are in the country.

Legal victories are only half the battle... enforcement is the other, more challenging, battle, and we stand together asking God for victory in this arena as well. As we stand together, we are helping to keep the light on in the dark.

Is there any end to the sorrow and suffering? The injustice and natural disasters? The shattered lives and broken hearts? There doesn't seem to be, and most days lately I've been feeling like my prayers don't make it very far.

This week, I see His goodness right here in our own community in the form of 130 boxes of Chic-Fil-A nuggets, lovingly donated in honor of a little girl who passed away last year. Now when the crowd of high school students come over for soda after school, they'll unexpectedly find a snack, too. A bright spot of joy, and a reminder they are loved and they matter, in honor of a little girl who left this world too soon.

But these bright spots of joy don't erase the heart ache of Mary Catherine's family, or any family who has lost a child. We stand together asking God to strengthen, encourage, and minister to parents who have buried children. As we stand together, we are helping to keep the light on in the dark.

Always remember to never forget: He is good. He is good. He is God.

"Because His word, is a lamp
And a light, to your path
And Jesus promised to be with you
Where you are, where you are
And you don't have to be afraid, of the dark anymore
Because His truth will keep the light on, in your heart
Yes His truth will keep the light on."
Christy Nockels - Keep the Light On

Praying with you,
Carrie
