MIDLAND, TEXAS - Connie Alexander never wanted to write a book. After the retired teacher and her husband, Clayton Alexander, completed a five-year federally funded prison ministry program, she wanted her experiences in Texas prisons to be documented.
"I didn't want to write the book. I kept thinking someone wanted to document our experiences. I kept telling God who I thought should write it and it wasn't me," Connie Alexander said. "I really felt like there needed to be a story that spoke to offer hope and encouragement to the wives and the family of the incarcerated."
