Today in the PC-USA Mission Yearbook

The Mission Yearbook for Prayer and Study is a daily devotional with 365 inspiring mission stories that come from next door and all across the globe. It inspires thousands of Presbyterians daily as they uphold the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in intercessory prayer. The stories in the 2013 Mission Yearbook were gathered around the question of Jesus to his disciples, “How many loaves have you?” from Mark 6:38. The book is filled with stories of God’s abundance in the face of overwhelming needs and a scarcity of resources.

SYNOD OF THE COVENANT: MICHIGAN, OHIO - The Mobile Health Fair, a ministry of the Synod of the Covenant, travels throughout Ohio and Michigan to provide health screenings and education to the underserved and uninsured. Participants who require further medical attention are referred to free or low-cost local clinics. Each summer, six college-age students are trained and certified in six medical screenings and educated in over 23 health modules, to serve participants for 10 weeks. As a result of hosting a health fair, churches and volunteers learn to work with community agencies to expand awareness of the healthcare needs in their community. On average, this ministry serves approximately 1,950 participants—referring more than 900 for follow-up care—and works closely with more than 500 volunteers from local congregations.
