In the News ... "Orthodox church begins plans for new building"

MIDLAND, TEXAS - For the congregation of Holy Cross Orthodox Church, the church is a sacred space. It’s a place to leave the world of sin behind and truly live in the kingdom of heaven.

“We are really alive when we are here,” said the Rev. Mark Telschow, pastor. “Ours is a faith where we move somewhere, and though it may be a great town, if the church isn’t there, we’re not going to raise our family there.”

For the Orthodox Christians of Midland, that sacred space is currently a room in the gymnasium of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, where they have been meeting for the past year. The church has recently begun plans to construct its own building on property it owns at the corner of Scharbauer Drive and Golf Course Road.
