In the News ... "Midland College PTK hosting sex trafficking awareness event - THIS WEEK"

• Event is open to the public

At Midland College convocation Monday morning, we got to hear from three amazing MC Phi Theta Kappa students! They have just wrapped up their College Project (resources for students to Start, Strive, Succeed), and this week will wrap up their Honors in Action project with a sex trafficking awareness event this Thursday, January 10, at 5:00 PM in room #101 (the auditorium) of the F. Marie Hall Academic Building (MHAB), on the MC main campus.

We will have a light dinner set up about 4:45 and the program will begin at 5:00 and will last about 45 minutes. You will be amazed, shocked, horrified, but well-educated as you learn about sex trafficking right here in our own backyard. We will share much of what we learned from Reflection Ministries (nondenominational), an agency in Midland that deals specifically with this issue. They work to identify victims, equip them with skills to lead productive lives, and to assist in restoring their self worth.

The PTK students felt that this awareness event would benefit our campus and the community on this heartbreaking issue.

The students have worked really hard on researching this topic and are really hoping for a great turnout. Please join us, and let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks so much!
