Invitation to Prayer from Faces of Children ... Wednesday

Faces of Children is an ecumenical prayer ministry under the auspices of First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Their mission is to initiate ministries of prayer for children in churches, communities, and neighborhoods. In doing so, they seek to provide an opportunity for people of God to join together, learn about children and their needs throughout the world, and celebrate Christ's love (especially as it relates to children).

Invitation to Prayer ... Wednesday

Hi Friends,

If you're in Midland this week, we'll be meeting at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16 for prayer. We meet in the prayer closet at First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Please join us in lifting up the needs of vulnerable children in our community and around the world!

Blessings,

Carrie

Dear Intercessors,

This week I'd like to invite you to join me in praying for a place particularly close to my heart... New Day Foster Home outside of Beijing, China. This week I received an email from my friend, Karen, the director. Here's part of what she said:

"There are many changes happening in China. If you have been following things you have probably seen information about the new National Regulation regarding orphans. The National Civil Affairs is requiring that all children must return to their orphanage. They may go to another city for temporary medical care/surgery but once that is completed they must return.

This means that ALL the children we have been caring for in Beijing must return to their orphanage. This is a very difficult time for all of us (there have been many tears shed) and for the orphanages. Many of the orphanages are overwhelmed with all the children that are returning."

Here's an example she shares from one orphanage: "They are in very difficult circumstances. With three children per bed- and this was before 90 children from other locations were returned. They are scrambling to make everything safe for the children. They have begged us for help and once the dust settles in Beijing we will explore how best to help them. This will most likely involve an in-orphanage project where we hire, train the staff and cover all the child's daily and medical expenses. The only difference is that they will not be in our Beijing facility but in the orphanage."

I'm not really sure that I really have words... my heart is hurting for my friends... nannies who will be laid off because there are no more kids to care for... children who've only known New Day as their home. The legacy of an entire organization that's saved the lives of hundreds of children ending with the simple signature of a government officer's pen.

The dust is still settling, and I don't know what's next for New Day. But this week, I would like to ask you to pray for this foster home and many others across China that are similarly impacted.

Blessings,

Carrie
