Invitation to Prayer from Faces of Children ... TODAY

Faces of Children is an ecumenical prayer ministry under the auspices of First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Their mission is to initiate ministries of prayer for children in churches, communities, and neighborhoods. In doing so, they seek to provide an opportunity for people of God to join together, learn about children and their needs throughout the world, and celebrate Christ's love (especially as it relates to children).

Invitation to Prayer ... TODAY

Dear Intercessors,

I hope you enjoy our Faces of Children monthly digest, a new format I'm trying out. After getting your feedback a few weeks ago, many of you suggested that a monthly digest might be a happy medium between ceasing a newsletter altogether and continuing to send something every week. We'll try this out for a few months, so plan on looking for the next digest in early August.

In the meantime, we will continue to meet locally every Wednesday - TODAY - at 11:30 in the prayer closet at First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Please join us in lifting up the needs of vulnerable children in our community and around the world!

Sincerely, Carrie McKean

AUGUST Faces of Children Digest

Can you believe summertime is almost over? I keep picturing my little girls with melting Popsicles, trying to enjoy every last bit even as it's slipping between their fingers. We've had a summer full of fun, and I'm not particularly ready for the structure and responsibilities of the school year again. But regardless, it's here.

As we draw closer to the start of school, I thought maybe we could spend August praying for children and teachers across the country There are so many needs facing children in the world today. Each week in August, I'd like to invite you to join me in praying for children going back to school. I'm offering particular ways to pray for ...

Week Four: Students

In the end, we do all of this because of the children. We strategize and train and dream and pray and hope and track and test and even conflict because we all fundamentally believe that every child deserves a good education. And even more than that, every child deserves to feel safe and loved and well-fed and connected to caring adults.

As I've looked through our own vacation photos this summer, I'm also keenly aware that for many children, they don't go back to school with fun stories about weekends at water parks and family camping trips and a vacation to the beach. In fact, for some students, summer was a time of boredom and isolation and loneliness and school is eagerly anticipated for its structure and routine.

As students come back, please pray they find school to be a place of safety in every sense. For those students who are anxious about returning to school - whether because they don't have the right supplies or they're afraid of the bully from last year or they don't have any good answer to the dreaded "What did you do this summer?" question - please pray for God to fill their hearts with peace.

Blessings,

Carrie
