ODESSA, TEXAS - Members of the community gathered Thursday morning at the empty lot on Sixth Street near Dixie Boulevard with their shovels in hand to break ground on what will become Jesus House.

Pastor Donny Kyker said he was given the vision by God in 2001 of a place where the homeless and others in need could come and have all of their needs met and prayers answered.

“I love this city, and there is a reason God will not let me leave and I believe that one of those reasons is Jesus House,” Kyker said. “We are striving for Jesus House to be a self-sustaining facility where we will be able to meet their needs. We want to teach these individuals to give and be a hand up, not just another handout”
