In the News ... "Odessa churches pray for schools"

• Nearly 40 Odessa-area churches participate in prayer program for schools

ODESSA, TEXAS - A group of 12 people gathered in a circle to pray for students, parents, teachers and administrators before the start of the new school year at the steps of the Ector County Independent School District Saturday morning.

Tammy Stallcup, choir teacher at Crockett Junior High, helped organized One Accord, a group of churches in the Odessa area that volunteer to pray for a school in the district for the entire school year.

“It’s not appropriate for me as a teacher at the school to preach,” Stallcup said. “So I thought, what can we do to make our churches more involved? Our churches need to be more involved in our community" ...
