In the News ... "Greater Ideal’s Miracle on Tyler Street to adopt 300 families this Christmas"

MIDLAND, TEXAS - Greater Ideal Baptist Church is once again hosting the Miracle on Tyler Street this Christmas season, doing its part to make the holiday special for families that may need a little extra help. While in the past the church has held a give-away featuring bicycles, toys, food and more, this year it will instead be adopting 300 families.

“What we want to do is focus in on meeting the needs of everyone in each of those families,” said Darlene Mays, director of special ministries at Greater Ideal. “If its blankets that they need, if there are toys that they need or maybe a meal. We’re going to go the whole nine yards to experience the true meaning of Christmas as a family, together.”

The church is accepting applications now, with the forms available in the Greater Ideal Family Life Center. Selection for the applications will be on a first-come first-serve basis as decided by a selection committee at the church.

“(Our motivation) is to spread the good news that they are loved and that no matter what state you might be in right now there is always hope,” Mays said ...
