ABILENE, TEXAS - The new assistant chaplain at McMurry University brings youth, diversity, energy and a message to her new job.

McMurry is affiliated with the United Methodist Church, which currently is wrestling with human sexuality issues that have plagued other mainstream denominations. In February, delegates to a special UMC conference voted to maintain a ban on same-sex marriage and ordination of gays and lesbians.

The issue and the vote have proven so divisive that some fear a split is inevitable.
