From @mmm_water ... 2019 Well Season: Daily Devotional

September 14 - October 28 is Marion Medical Mission Well Season for 2019. The season will include daily devotionals - one for each day the U.S. volunteers are overseas, sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa. Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

UNEXPECTED BLESSINGS
Wayne Schultz
Volunteer, Colorado

“From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.”
John 1:16

When I first heard of Marion Medical Mission I was excited about the opportunity to help provide such a basic thing as clean water to so many people in need, and to be personally involved in the process.

My expectations were high, but naïve. I was to discover there was far more going on here and far more significance than I imagined. I was humbled to find out the role of a volunteer was a small part of Marion Medical Mission and what I would do was but the tip of an iceberg that resulted in the preparation for and installation of nearly 3,000 wells each year. As I learned more about the organization and the infrastructure in Africa; the planning, the logistics, the training as well as the broad participation of coordinators, field officers, installation supervisors, builders, manufacturers, maintainers, and well committees, I began to understand why MMM has been so successful and why we volunteers are so blessed to be included. The grace of God was at work.

I also did not expect the blessing of relationships among volunteers and the priceless friendships with our African partners, nor did I anticipate or fully appreciate the joy of villagers until I saw them drink clean water for the first time.

Application Question: What unexpected blessings have you received or witnessed from being involved with Marion Medical Mission?

Prayer: Lord, open our eyes to the blessings that have come in the midst of our involvement with Marion Medical Mission. Thank You for the many friends and experiences through which You have revealed Your love among us.
