From @mmm_water ... 2019 Well Season: Daily Devotional

September 14 - October 28 is Marion Medical Mission Well Season for 2019. The season will include daily devotionals - one for each day the U.S. volunteers are overseas, sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa. Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

ACCEPTING OUR SITUATIONS

“I have learned to be content with whatever I have.”
Philippians 4:11

Hello in Jesus name, let me share with you the story about the sickness of my aunt. My aunt was diagnosed with liver cancer and was bedridden for three years. The situation reach a point that she was discharged from the hospital so that we just had to await for her dying day at home. She was obviously in pain and everyone had a face showing a dark cloud overshadowing us all. To everyone’s surprise was the never-fading joy that was ever conspicuous on my aunt’s face. Every conversation with all that visited ended up with “worry not about me, I am with God.” One critical day came, she could not speak or eat anything but just breathe and everyone thought it was over. Surprisingly the following day was the day my aunt stood up from the bed and walked for herself for the first time in three years. She is full of life and working just like everyone else now. The hospital checkup showed the cancer had disappeared.

I took some lessons from my aunt’s sickness that we need to be contented in the presence of God that all is well and we have no reason to worry. My aunt had surrendered her life in the hands of God and she found peace in it and would not worry about her situation as everyone else was. When we put God first everything else doesn’t matter, this includes wherever we die or live, “it is all well.”

Most are times when we want what we want for ourselves instead of wanting God. Most times we want miracles to happen before we embrace the Holy Ghost yet these things are supposed to be the opposite. Seek first the kingdom of God. When we embrace the Holy Spirit miracles will just flow. His presence alone should be contentment to us, at that point we will not be desperate for a miracle but leave it all in His hands so that His will should be done.

Application Question: Do we believe it is well through Christ in all our circumstances?

Prayer: Dear Lord help us seek first Your presence and get contented in it and give us the strength to keep coping with our situations, believing in Your never-failing mightiness. So that we cultivate the spiritual riches in Christ which will bring joy from our within knowing that “it is well” in all our situations. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.
