The Mission Yearbook for Prayer and Study is a daily devotional with 365 inspiring mission stories that come from next door and all across the globe. It inspires thousands of Presbyterians daily as they uphold the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in intercessory prayer. The stories in the 2013 Mission Yearbook were gathered around the question of Jesus to his disciples, “How many loaves have you?” from Mark 6:38. The book is filled with stories of God’s abundance in the face of overwhelming needs and a scarcity of resources.

UNITED NATIONS DAY / EGYPT - With few words to paint a picture, little can be seen. Yet perhaps these three simple strokes of the brush, like three small loaves in the hands of the Master, will be enough to guide you as you seek to know and support the church in the Middle East in this time of rapid change and development.
Pray first for the witness and effectiveness of Christ-followers as they serve in society. Historically, Orthodox, Catholics, and Protestants have formed a divided minority and been a conflicting witness in the context of a Muslim majority. However, in these days of the Arab Spring, there is evidence that habits of disrespectful engagement are dying. Cooperation is on the rise, especially in meetings for prayer and as ecumenical Christian groups make grassroots attempts to assist and direct politicians while new governments are forming and old laws and social systems are being reformed.
