MIDLAND, TEXAS - Some call him “Dad.” Others call him “Pastor Kenan.”
For the past 40 years, the Rev. William Kenan has been a father figure to the congregation of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, a historically African-American Pentecostal denomination.
As founder of the church in 1973, he’s seen it grow from 20 people meeting in the auditorium of Carver High School to more than 100 faithful members at the sprawling sanctuary on Terrell Street today.
The church will celebrate Kenan’s 40 years of service with a special worship service at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The service is open to the public, and dinner will be served afterward.
