The Mission Yearbook for Prayer and Study is a daily devotional with 365 inspiring mission stories that come from next door and all across the globe. It inspires thousands of Presbyterians daily as they uphold the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in intercessory prayer. The stories in the 2013 Mission Yearbook were gathered around the question of Jesus to his disciples, “How many loaves have you?” from Mark 6:38. The book is filled with stories of God’s abundance in the face of overwhelming needs and a scarcity of resources.

PRESBYTERY OF THE CASCADES (OREGON, CALIFORNIA, WASHINGTON) - Kaong Diet is a blessed man. By age 30, he has experienced abundant love from Presbyterians on two continents.
Kaong came to the U.S. from Ethiopia at age 17. His parents lived in refugee camps and—following the availability of water—migrated seasonally between two villages. For schooling, children had to walk several hours each way to attend classes all day without a meal. An aunt in the U.S. arranged for Kaong’s emigration, but he spent 18 months in a refugee camp before he was allowed to leave.
