ODESSA, TEXAS - Mark Cooper and his wife moved to Ohio a few months ago, ready to settle into retirement.
Then he received a call in May from First Presbyterian Church in Odessa looking for an interim pastor.
“I really find it hard to quit,” Cooper, 63, said. “I retired a year ago and then after months I said ‘I might not be quite done yet.’ I love it.”
So Cooper moved for a second time in July, this time to Odessa, while his wife will divide her time between Sandusky, Ohio, and Odessa.
He was named interim pastor July 1 after Pastor Jim Longstreet retired from the church after about four years.
