ODESSA, TEXAS - Ronnie Derr said Texas Governor Rick Perry convinced him to come to Texas.
Not personally, of course. While living in Phoenix, Arizona, Derr said he was about to move to Scottsdale, Ariz., when he heard Perry talking about the state’s low unemployment rate on Sean Hannity’s radio show. So Derr said he decided to pick up and move to Texas instead. It is a choice he said he does not regret.
“I made the right move,” Derr said.
However, because rent prices are high and he was unable to find a place to live, Derr said he’s been living at the shelter at the Salvation Army in Odessa for the past month, working with a company that specializes in cleaning oilfield clothing.
