The Mission Yearbook for Prayer and Study is a daily devotional with 365 inspiring mission stories that come from next door and all across the globe. It inspires thousands of Presbyterians daily as they uphold the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in intercessory prayer. The stories in the 2013 Mission Yearbook were gathered around the question of Jesus to his disciples, “How many loaves have you?” from Mark 6:38. The book is filled with stories of God’s abundance in the face of overwhelming needs and a scarcity of resources.

PRESBYTERY OF KENDALL, IDAHO - The Presbytery of Kendall encourages its congregations in their mission, as they serve as the essential mission arm of the presbytery and of the larger church. The First Presbyterian Church of Pocatello has an exceptional mission story to tell. During the harsh winter of 1984, two homeless men died of exposure, shocking the community. Religious leaders, city officials, local businesses, and individuals responded by creating the region’s first homeless shelter, Aid for Friends. It remains the only shelter serving men, women, and families in the region.
In 2006 Aid for Friends was threatened with closure.
