The Mission Yearbook for Prayer and Study is a daily devotional with 365 inspiring mission stories that come from next door and all across the globe. It inspires thousands of Presbyterians daily as they uphold the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in intercessory prayer. The stories in the 2013 Mission Yearbook were gathered around the question of Jesus to his disciples, “How many loaves have you?” from Mark 6:38. The book is filled with stories of God’s abundance in the face of overwhelming needs and a scarcity of resources.
Today in the Mission Yearbook: November 11, 2013
MINUTE FOR MISSION: PRESBYTERIAN COUNCIL FOR CHAPLAINS AND MILITARY PERSONNEL - It was 11:00 a.m. The bells in all the churches pealed their good news and the call to prayer. Most men wore poppies in their buttonholes, remembering Flanders Fields. It was November 11, Remembrance Day, in Norwich, England. I, then an Air Force chaplain, was asked to preach the annual service in Norwich Cathedral, to offer grateful words for all who served in World War I, “the war to end all wars,” and subsequent conflicts.
Our military and Veterans Affairs (VA) chaplains serve in war and in peace.
