MIDLAND, TEXAS - It takes nearly 45 actors and countless other volunteers to put together First Baptist Church’s Living Nativity, an annual Christmas tradition in Midland.

Gail Storrie and her husband, Jim, have organized the nativity nearly every year since it began in 1975. This year’s Living Nativity will take place from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at 2200 W. Cuthbert Ave., a vacant lot at the corner of “N” St. and Cuthbert Ave. belonging to First Baptist Church.

Each year hundreds of people attend the Living Nativity, which features a live, outdoor representation of a Nativity scene in a stable built by church volunteers. In the 1970s, the event started on the west lawn of First Baptist Church. Storrie said she and her husband decided to organize the Living Nativity after many years of seeing Nativities with figurines at the church.
