The Mission Yearbook for Prayer and Study is a daily devotional with 365 inspiring mission stories that come from next door and all across the globe. It inspires thousands of Presbyterians daily as they uphold the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in intercessory prayer. The stories in the 2013 Mission Yearbook were gathered around the question of Jesus to his disciples, “How many loaves have you?” from Mark 6:38. The book is filled with stories of God’s abundance in the face of overwhelming needs and a scarcity of resources.

FOOTHILLS PRESBYTERY, SOUTH CAROLINA - In 2010 the Sterling Spinners bicycle club was created for middle school kids in the Sterling community of Greenville. The group of 10 kids and three adults talked about nutrition and the importance of active lifestyles, but, more important, they donned their helmets and hit the road on their bikes. Regular outings up the newly formed Swamp Rabbit Trail to nearby Travelers Rest or to a favorite park gave the kids a sense of independence and the confidence that they could pedal farther than they ever thought possible. Making it to the top of a very steep hill when it is hot and they are tired is always a challenge, but pushing through fatigue gives the kids a glimpse of an inner resolve that hopefully will be translated to other challenges. The group enjoys spending time together doing service projects, exploring the arts, taking in a sporting event, or just riding for the sake of riding.
