September 14 - October 28 is Marion Medical Mission Well Season for 2019. The season will include daily devotionals - one for each day the U.S. volunteers are overseas, sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa. Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.
September 14, 2019
Today Team One is en route to Malawi from the U.S. Tomorrow they will arrive and meet the rest of the team. And so it begins!
Join us in prayers of thanksgiving and preparation.
A PRAYER OF BEGINNING ...
For those who are traveling to Africa for this well season;
For those who are staying home, but their loved one is going to work on wells;
For those who live in Africa and have been preparing for this well season;
For anyone else who is going to share in these devotions during the well season.
"This is the day the LORD has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalm 118:24
Dear God, give us joy as we look ahead to this well season. Help us to remember that this project is planned, directed, and made possible by You. We rejoice in You Lord!
"If I rise on the wings of the dawn and settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast."
Psalm 139: 9 &10
Lord, You know each one of us personally. The journey on wings is long and tiring. The journey on bikes or motorcycles to prepare and build wells is long and tiring too. Missing loved ones seems long and difficult. But You are there with us. Guide us all. Hold each one of us safe in your strong right hand.
"He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love."
Ephesians 4:16
We are the Body of Christ. Prepare each of us to do our own special work during this well season. Wherever we are - at home, in Landcruisers, in African villages - help us do our own special work, Lord! Please give us patience with others and with ourselves. We need each other! We need You!
"From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint;
lead me to the rock that is higher than I."
Psalm 61:2
On this day of beginning, or in the days to come, our hearts will have times of weakness. Lord Jesus, draw us to You, our Rock. You know what faint heart feels like. Jesus, we trust in You.
We pray all of this, for all of us,
in the strong, merciful, uplifting name of Jesus our Savior.
Amen.
