From @mmm_water ... 2019 Well Season: Daily Devotional

September 14 - October 28 is Marion Medical Mission Well Season for 2019. The season will include daily devotionals - one for each day the U.S. volunteers are overseas, sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa. Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

GLORY TO GOD!
Karen Dragano
Volunteer, Colorado

“All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies, he alone is God!”
1 Timothy 1:17

It is written on the top slab of every well installed by Marion Medical Mission. Every Marion volunteer, builder, Field Officer or maintenance man has seen it so many times. Every well proclaims “GLORY TO GOD” in English and in the local language. Sometimes it may say GROLY TO GOD, but everyone recognizes what it means. In fact, we see it so often, we may take it for granted. Do the villagers think about this profound phrase each day as they come to the well for safe water? That water seems like a miracle on the first day of sparkling water. But does the gratitude continue? I hope God is glorified every day!

The Bible says God is “the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies, He alone is God!” My Chichewa dictionary defines “ulemu” as honor, esteem, respect, dignity. That is what we should give to our God every single time we install a well. Who is the Source, the Motivator, the Power who really brings this water to the villagers? It is our God. Does my heart bow before Him? Do I remember His generosity? Do I thank Him as I drink His wonderful water? I hope the words GLORY TO GOD are written deeply on all our hearts. For Marion wells are truly God’s wells!

How can we give GLORY TO GOD in our lives? Let God use you -- by driving the truck, by guiding the volunteers, by contributing money for a well, by telling the story so more wells will be sponsored. Another way for the Africans to glorify God is to take care of the well and use the water wisely. Americans can use the water in their home with grateful hearts, not taking clean water for granted. Let water remind us to give Glory to God.

Application Question: How will you glorify God today? How will you let God use you today?

Prayer: Immortal, powerful, generous God—we humbly bow before You in gratitude. Thank You for the water You provide. Thank You for letting us be part of Your work here. Thank You for another day to give You all the glory, honor, and praise.
