From @mmm_water ... 2021 Well Season: Daily Devotional

September 1 - October 31 is Marion Medical Mission Well Season for 2021. The season will include daily devotionals - one for each day the U.S. volunteers are overseas, sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa. Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

FINDING PURPOSE
Rita Pearce
Volunteer, Illinois

"… I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
Matthew 25:40

I have never been to Africa; but, because I am privileged to volunteer for Marion Medical Mission, I have seen pictures and videos of the beautiful faces of villagers receiving the blessing of fresh, clean, safe drinking water.

In the United States, we are able to simply turn on the tap, in our homes, any time of the day to receive water. But in so many African villages, the people walk miles, and carry water from what we could only call “mud puddles” to drink, cook, and bathe. They are subject to disease and sometimes personal danger to acquire this less than healthy water.

Every day that I get to work with the people of Marion Medical Mission, I am inspired by observing those who have dedicated their lives to fulfill God’s call to help others. I am encouraged to seek out ways to do so in my life as well.

“for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Philippians 2:13

Application Question: What new ways can you find to help neighbors, friends, and even strangers?

Prayer: Father, thank you for the blessings you share with each of us. Please don’t let us take any of them for granted. Enable us to find your good purpose in each of our lives and work to accomplish it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
