From @mmm_water ... 2021 Well Season: Daily Devotional

September 1 - October 31 is Marion Medical Mission Well Season for 2019. The season will include daily devotionals - one for each day the U.S. volunteers are overseas, sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa. Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

WHY GO?
Jamie Jones
Volunteer, Georgia

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations." Matthew 28:18-20

When I have shared my “mission experiences” with churched and unchurched alike I’m mostly met with enthusiastic support. However, a few folks have pushed back in disapproval saying that we have enough problems to solve in our own county, state, and country.

To this I offer the Great Commission. Christ tells us in Matthew 28: 18-20, “... therefore go and make disciples of all nations ...”

Even though that “marching order” should be enough justification, I believe there is more to it. Being face to face with the people we share the Good News and good works with is a key part of following that commission.

I have been told how much it means to actually see fellow believers who have taken the time ( and expense!) to travel to be with them in person. To be face to face representatives of people who pray for them and support them monetarily, has been a common theme among people in four very different counties; Mexico (Yucatán), Haiti, Kenya, and Malawi. In one week or three weeks a relationship is formed and the bond is strong!

In each location the people we “help” can do ALL of the projects without us; our MMM staff have proven time and again that they accomplish the work on their own. Even before Covid the staff completed and even exceeded the yearly goal and during Covid they got everything done - and more!

Why go? To share the love of Christ in a personal and deep way, working together physically, sharing our faith, breaking bread together (literally!), and praying together many times on a daily basis.

Application Question: How do you share the love of Christ with others?

Prayer: : Utufuku kwa Mungu! Uchindami kwa Chiuta! Ulemu kwa Mulungu!
