From @mmm_water ... 2021 Well Season: Daily Devotional

September 1 - October 31 is Marion Medical Mission Well Season for 2021. The season will include daily devotionals - one for each day the U.S. volunteers are overseas, sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa. Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

PEACE, LOVE AND UNITY
Moses Nthala
MMM Field Officer, Zambia

"Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister whom they have seen cannot love God whom they have not seen.” 1 John 4:20

I remember in 2018 we were invited by a village in Katete area because they were very interested in the MMM well program. I in the company of my installation supervisor rode 60 kilometers to reach that village. This village had three neighboring villages in close proximity to them who, like them, had serious challenges in accessing clean water. My installation supervisor and I suggested that we site the well at such a location that would ensure that all the four villages benefit from this same well. Surprisingly the Headman for the village that invited us did not want to share the well with the other villages because he claimed they were not on good terms. However, God made us find a way of convincing him, and the MMM well was constructed and installed for all the villages.

In 2020 I visited the same water point for well spot checks. The village Headman approached me and said something that made me share this story. He narrated to me that since the day the well was installed, there has been peace and unity between his village and their neighbors. He told me that just after the well was installed the four villages convened a meeting at the well site and managed to settle their differences.

MMM wells represent the love of Christ. You cannot claim to love God and yet fail to make peace with your brother (Matthew 5:24). Donor support to the MMM well program not only ensures communities have access to clean water but also ensures communities experience the love of Jesus Christ and this love has brought peace, love and unity among them.

Application Question: As we accept to do God’s work today, have we made peace with our brothers and sisters?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are the God of reconciliation and by the power of your son Jesus Christ you allowed MMM to lead communities to reconciliation. Christ died to bring reconciliation to us, may we demonstrate that to others through our prayers and action. Amen.
