From @mmm_water ... 2021 Well Season: Daily Devotional

September 1 - October 31 is Marion Medical Mission Well Season for 2021. The season will include daily devotionals - one for each day the U.S. volunteers are overseas, sharing the love of Jesus by providing safe, clean, sustainable sources of drinking water to the extreme poor in sub-Saharan Africa. Marion Medical Mission is one of our mission partners at Grace Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas, and we STRONGLY encourage you to read these devotions to learn more about - and pray for! - their mission.

A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT
Tiffany Poch
Volunteer, Colorado

"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Last year, for the first time, American volunteers were not able to travel to Africa to join our brothers and sisters in the work the Lord is doing through MMM. For many of us, this was very discouraging. However, the Lord is good. He is faithful. Despite how disappointing and discouraging this was for those of us who had to stay in America, the Lord continued to bless MMM. More wells were installed than ever before. Praise be to God, and well done to our friends in Africa who made this huge undertaking a reality!

I wanted to use this space to spread some encouragement. To those of you in Africa, wow. You have continued to answer the call of God and serve His people. Even now, amidst the new challenges, struggles, and trials, you are faithful and the Lord has blessed that faithfulness richly. Know that even though we cannot join you in person, we stand behind you in prayer. You are constantly in our hearts and we look forward to the day when we can meet again!

To those of you who had to stay home, I want to encourage you also. I know that Africa and the work of MMM holds a very special place in your heart. For some of us, myself included, it is easy to let part of our identity become about the things that we do instead of whose we are. The Lord knew this was coming. He has a plan to richly bless this season of your life as you wait on Him, rest in Him, and serve Him at home. You are a blessing to those around you, whether that be halfway around the world or in your own backyard. I believe that the Lord will grow us in new and powerful ways during this unique season of life if we allow Him to.

Application Question: How can you encourage someone in a unique way today?

Prayer: : Heavenly Father, you know what life holds for each and everyone of us. Please help us to remember this and act in a way that reflects this in our daily lives. Please help us to be a source of encouragement to each other as we each run the race you have called us to. Thank you for your many blessings. Amen.
