ODESSA, TEXAS - Casey Wiseman, 33, has lived in Odessa most of her life. Her 12-year-old son attends Nimitz Middle School, near JBS Parkway, where Seth Aaron Ator traveled as he fatally shot seven people and injured 22 others.

And had it been a school day instead of a Saturday, Wiseman’s son and his classmates might have been outside.

“It could have hit a yard full of kids,” she said Sunday evening at University of Texas of the Permian Basin, where hundreds gathered for a community healing service. “Our safety is gone.” ...
