Faces of Children is an ecumenical prayer ministry under the auspices of First Presbyterian Church of Midland, Texas. Our mission is to initiate ministries of prayer for children in churches, communities, and neighborhoods. In doing so, we seek to provide an opportunity for people of God to join together, learn about children and their needs throughout the world, and celebrate Christ's love (especially as it relates to children).
Prayer Concerns for the Week of 02/13/14
Burma (Myanmar), Bangladesh
• Please continue to keep the Rohingya people close in prayer as they experience greater violence in Burma’s Rakhine (formerly Arakan) State. Pray for the estimated one million Rohingya living there ... most of whom are stateless and subject to forced labor, land confiscations, travel restrictions, and limited access to jobs, education, and healthcare.

• Pray for Rohingya children and families whose village was recently attacked and burned down by the Burma army and Buddhist Rakhine extremists. Pray God will comfort the loved ones of those killed in this recent violence. Pray for the safety and freedom of the estimated 700 women and children who were taken away to an unknown “prison,” including the 2-year-old daughter of Aisha.
• Give God thanks nine families, including Aisha’s, were able to escape to Bangladesh following the attack by soldiers and extremists. Pray God will comfort Aisha and his family as they grieve over this precious daughter who was left behind in the chaos of trying to escape Burmese security forces.
• Pray for Rohingya families living in unregistered refugee camps in Bangladesh. Pray God will provide for their deepest physical, emotional, and spiritual needs during this very difficult time.
• Give thanks to God for the work of the staff and volunteers with Partners Relief and Development and other humanitarian aid organizations as they bring hope, help, and love to those in need in Burma and Bangladesh.
• Please pray for peace between Buddhist Rakhine and Muslim Rohingya ethnic groups in this region. Animosity between the groups goes back many years when the Rohingya first came to Burma from Bangladesh. Pray for reconciliation and understanding between these two ethnic people groups.
United States
• Please pray for God’s healing touch to be upon 2-year-old Bo Birdwell who has been diagnosed with a very serious case of bladder cancer. Pray for complete healing for this precious little boy. Pray for Bo’s parents as they navigate the medical system and the decisions regarding his care. Pray God will bring comfort and peace to them all during this difficult season.
• Pray God will heal 8-month-old Owen who was diagnosed with leukemia then suffered a stroke following treatment that left him paralyzed on his right side. Pray for his parents, Allison and Jacob, as they care for their baby boy and also make decisions regarding his treatment.
• Keep 1-year-old Carsyn close in prayer as he receives treatment for a mass in his brain. Pray doctors will be able to properly diagnose Carsyn and provide treatment options for his parents. Pray for Carsyn’s parents as they seek the best treatment for their little boy.
• Give thanks and praise to God for the healing 11-year-old Jordan has experienced more than six months after his double lung transplant. Thanks be to God that Jordan’s body isn’t rejecting the new lungs. And praise God that Jordan is able to resume much of the activities, like ice hockey, he enjoyed before his old lungs became so damaged by cystic fibrosis. Please pray the issues he is having with his stomach (complications from cystic fibrosis and a previous surgery) will resolve.

• Give thanks to God for the opportunity to share the ministry of Faces of Children with the students and staff at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas this week. Pray hearts and ears will be open to God’s message about prayer for children.
• And thanks be to God for the opportunity to share Faces of Children with the congregation at First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville, Arkansas this week.
