MIDLAND, TEXAS - Trinity School will host Empty Bowls, an event meant to raise awareness about hunger and food insecurity in West Texas communities, from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the school's gymnasium.
Though relatively new to Midland, the Empty Bowls international grassroots movement to end hunger was created in 1990 by the Imagine Render Group and has been held annually in Odessa since 2001.
Each event is tailored to its community's needs, but Empty Bowls traditionally consists of a simple community-style meal of soup and bread, served out of handmade ceramic bowls.
In exchange for a cash donation, guests keep their handmade bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. All funds raised during the event are donated to organizations working to end hunger and food insecurity.
